Choose whether you are travelling from or to Sydney Airport, enter the other NSW address, and get a clear taxi fare estimate with distance, travel time and route map.
This calculator estimates a non-booked taxi-rank trip leaving Sydney Airport. A booked taxi, rideshare or transfer may use a separate provider quote.
The Sydney Airport Taxi Fare Calculator estimates a taxi fare between Sydney Airport and a selected NSW address. Choose T1 International or the T2/T3 Domestic precinct, enter the other address and select the expected travel time to view an estimated distance, journey time, fare range and route map.
Eligible non-booked trips from a Sydney Airport taxi rank to the official Sydney CBD fixed-fare zone may cost up to A$60 for a standard taxi or A$80 for a qualifying maxi taxi. Other journeys are generally estimated using the applicable NSW urban or country taxi rates.
This is an independent planning estimate, not a booking or guaranteed fare. The final amount may change because of the route, traffic, waiting time, tolls, payment method and other permitted charges.
Select the correct airport terminal when entering your journey:
T1 International Terminal for international flights
T2 Domestic Terminal for most domestic airlines
T3 Domestic Terminal for Qantas domestic flights
Terminal selection matters because the road distance and travel time can differ. A journey starting at T1 may follow a different route from one starting at T2 or T3, even when the destination is the same.
For the most useful estimate, enter a complete street address rather than a suburb name alone. Check the selected route before relying on the result, especially when a tolled road is available.
For journeys that do not involve the airport, use the Sydney taxi fare calculator.
Sydney Airport charges a taxi access fee for metered trips collected from its taxi ranks. From 14 August 2026, the taxi access fee is A$6.43.
This fee can generally be added to a metered taxi fare from Sydney Airport. It should not be added separately when the journey qualifies for the Sydney Airport-to-CBD fixed-fare trial because the fixed amount already includes applicable airport access fees, tolls and the Passenger Service Levy.
Other possible Sydney Airport taxi charges include:
The airport access fee normally applies to a pickup from an airport taxi rank. It is not ordinarily added simply because a passenger is travelling towards the airport.
A fixed-fare trial applies to eligible, single and uninterrupted non-booked taxi trips from the Sydney Airport precinct directly to a destination within the official Sydney CBD fixed-fare zone. The official zone map, rather than the postcode alone, should be checked for addresses near the boundary.
The maximum trial fares are:
| Eligible trip | Fixed fare |
|---|---|
| Standard taxi | A$60 |
| Wheelchair-accessible taxi carrying a passenger who needs the accessible service | A$60 |
| Requested maxi taxi, or maxi taxi with five or more passengers | A$80 |
applicable metered or agreed fare conditions, Passenger Service Levy and road tolls. These costs should not be added again. A permitted non-cash payment surcharge may still apply.
The trial is directional. It does not apply to a journey from the CBD to Sydney Airport, to a destination outside postcode 2000 or to a taxi obtained outside the participating airport ranks. These journeys are generally calculated using the applicable metered or agreed fare conditions.
Sydney Airport has separate international and domestic precincts. T1 International is on one side of the airport, while T2 and T3 are in the domestic precinct. The terminals are not connected by a short public walking route.
Choose the actual arrival or departure terminal instead of entering only “Sydney Airport.” This helps the calculator identify a more suitable road route and provides a better distance estimate.
The same regulated urban fare components apply to metered rank-and-hail trips from the international and domestic taxi ranks. However, distance, traffic and toll use can make the calculated amounts different.
For a specific route, see the Sydney Airport to Darling Harbour taxi fare or the Sydney Airport to Parramatta taxi fare.
The fare depends on the terminal, destination, road distance, travel time and applicable tariff. Enter the exact NSW address in the calculator for an estimate. Eligible non-booked trips from the Sydney Airport precinct to the official Sydney CBD fixed-fare zone may cost up to A$60 for a standard taxi or A$80 for a qualifying maxi taxi.
Yes. An eligible non-booked taxi trip from the Sydney Airport precinct to the official Sydney CBD fixed-fare zone has a maximum fare of A$60 for a standard taxi or A$80 for a qualifying maxi taxi. The fixed amount includes applicable tolls, the airport access fee and the Passenger Service Levy. Check the official zone map for addresses close to the boundary.
No. The trial applies only in the airport-to-CBD direction. A taxi fare to Sydney Airport is generally calculated under the relevant metered or agreed fare conditions.
A metered airport-rank pickup can include the fare shown on the meter, an A$6.43 airport access fee, the Passenger Service Levy and any road tolls used. Waiting, peak-time, maxi-taxi and non-cash payment charges may also apply in permitted circumstances.
The taxi access fee is associated with taxis using the airport’s pickup facilities. It does not ordinarily apply to a standard drop-off journey to the airport, although other fare components and tolls may still affect the total.
