Fare scope: This calculator uses the WA metropolitan maximum rank-or-hail fare schedule. An authorised on-demand booking service may set metered rates at or below these maximums, while a valid pre-agreed contract fare can differ. The airport-rank option uses a configurable Perth Airport terminal fee. Review the current Transport WA taxi fare schedule and Perth Airport taxi information before relying on the result.

A WA taxi booking service may provide a written pre-agreed contract fare. That price can differ from this metropolitan maximum-meter estimate. At a taxi rank or when hailing on the street, the meter must be used. This website does not send the trip to a driver or taxi company.

How Perth Taxi Fare Estimates Are Calculated

A Perth taxi fare normally begins with an initial hiring charge, also known as the flagfall. The meter then adds a distance charge and may apply a detention or waiting-time charge during delays or slow sections of the journey.

The basic calculation is:

Initial charge + distance charge + waiting or detention time + applicable fees and surcharges

The selected travel date and time are important because Perth has different initial charges for weekday daytime journeys and night, weekend or public-holiday journeys. A higher tariff may also apply when five or more passengers travel together or when a larger taxi is specifically requested.

Transport WA regulates the maximum amounts that may be charged for rank-and-hail taxi services in the metropolitan region. Individual on-demand booking services may set fares at or below these maximum amounts, so the published rates should not be treated as one compulsory fixed price for every operator.

Perth Taxi Surcharges and Additional Charges

A calculator estimate may include or exclude certain additional charges depending on the information entered and the type of journey.

Call-out or booking charge

A call-out fee of up to $1.90 may apply when a taxi is requested. This fee cannot be added when a guaranteed booking fee is already payable for the same hire.

Ultra-peak surcharge

An additional $4.50 ultra-peak surcharge may apply:

  • Between midnight Friday and 3:00 am Saturday
  • Between midnight Saturday and 3:00 am Sunday

How to Use the Perth Taxi Fare Calculator

1. Enter the pickup location

Enter a complete street address, hotel, attraction, suburb or Perth Airport terminal. A precise address produces a better route estimate than a general suburb name.

2. Enter the destination

Add the exact drop-off address. The calculator uses the pickup and destination to estimate the road distance and journey duration.

3. Select the travel date and time

Choose when the journey is expected to begin. This helps determine whether the weekday daytime, night, weekend, public-holiday or ultra-peak fare rules may apply.

4. Choose the vehicle type

Select a standard taxi for a normal passenger journey. Select the large-vehicle option when five or more passengers will travel or when a larger taxi is specifically required.

5. Review the estimate

Check the fare range, estimated distance and expected journey duration. Treat the result as a planning guide rather than a confirmed fare.
